Small Prophets premieres tonight with 100% Rotten Tomatoes

9to5Mac reports the new Apple TV+ comedy series holds a perfect score and is being called the streamer's best debut of 2026.

Apple TV+ has had a strong year for comedies, including new seasons of Shrinking, Ted Lasso, and Trying, along with Emmy-winning original Widow’s Bay. Now a new series, Small Prophets, aims to keep that momentum going, according to 9to5Mac.

The show premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT. It is a licensed series that previously aired in the UK but is now getting a global release on Apple TV+.

Reviews have been effusive. 9to5Mac notes that Small Prophets holds a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Hollywood Reporter called it “the finest show to hit Apple this year,” though noted the superlative depends on feelings about Widow’s Bay.

The Verge described it as a low-key show that is “extremely strong in basically every regard,” with an excellent supporting cast, mystery, and a mix of sweet and silly tones. Other critics have used phrases like “gentle, jewel-like, unhurried masterpiece” and praised the “dovetailing of story arcs.”

9to5Mac recommends the show for anyone looking for something to watch after tonight’s Ted Lasso season 4 finale. Apple TV+ is available for $14.99 per month or as part of the Apple One bundle.
