iPhone Duo App Submissions Open Ahead of Oct. 23 Launch
Apple is accepting App Store submissions for the foldable iPhone Duo, which launches Friday, Oct. 23.

MacRumors reports that Apple has opened App Store submissions for apps built for the iPhone Duo, ahead of the foldable's launch on Friday, Oct. 23.
Current App Store titles will still work on the Duo without any developer action. But apps compiled with the iOS 27.1 SDK or newer are the only ones that can resize to fill the inner screen. Older apps will show black borders around their content.
Developers can get their apps ready using Xcode 27.1, and Apple has posted tips on its website for optimizing for the Duo.
For buyers, this mostly matters if you rely on apps that rarely get updates. The Duo will run them, just with bars around the display. The bigger question is whether developers will bother optimizing for a brand-new form factor in time for launch.
