Amazon Prime Big Deal Days: accessory deals are live

MacRumors rounds up third-party charging, smart home, and phone accessory markdowns during Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days event.

MacRumors has been tracking Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days, and after covering the best Apple-related discounts, it's now turned to third-party accessories. Think chargers, smart home gear, and phone accessories. The catch: every deal requires an Amazon Prime membership.

The discounts are time sensitive, MacRumors notes, so this isn't the event to sleep on. If you see a price you like, act. You'll need to be signed in with Prime to get the deal.

If you're not a member, you can get a 30-day free trial. After that, Prime runs $14.99 a month or $139 a year. If you're only joining for one discounted cable, that's a tough deal; if you already use Prime Video or ship with Prime anyway, the accessory discounts are found money.

MacRumors also discloses that it's an affiliate partner with some of the vendors. That means it may get a small payment if you buy through its links. We don't have a problem with that, but it's why its "best of" lists tend to point at Amazon.

Our take: Wait for the specific accessory you need, and check the price. "Deal" is a word Amazon uses freely; the "before" price matters more than the sale badge. If you're already a Prime member, the roundup is worth a look. If you'd be joining just for this, do the math on the $139 annual fee first. The deals will still be there in 30 days; your credit card doesn't need the impulse.
