iOS 27.2 beta 3: new Music logo, Books redesign, Messages hints

Apple's latest developer beta introduces a bolder Apple Music logo, code references for granular Messages controls, and a Liquid Glass makeover for Apple Books.

Apple released iOS 27.2 beta 3 to developers on Monday, build number 24B5099f, two weeks after the second beta. A public beta followed Tuesday, with a final release expected before the end of the month, 9to5Mac reports.

New Apple Music logo

The beta includes an updated Apple Music logo with a bolder typeface and a lowercase “m” in “music.” Apple had teased the new logo when it announced Apple Music Hall last month, and 9to5Mac notes the beta rollout to the sign-up flow suggests the change is coming to everyone soon.

Messages settings in the works

Code inside iOS 27.2 beta 3 hints at a new setting that would let users disable suggested actions in Messages—buttons like “Add to Calendar.” 9to5Mac reports the code points to per-app controls for Calendar, Reminders, Notes, and Maps. The feature isn’t live yet and could be scrapped before release.

Apple Books design tweaks

Beta Profiles on X spotted a Liquid Glass redesign of the Menu button in Apple Books’ reading view. 9to5Mac confirms the change brings a new progress bar for tracking reading progress.

More from macOS 27.2 beta 3

Though not part of iOS, the macOS 27.2 beta 3 released alongside it includes “gesture recognition tools” for stock Apple apps and a new long-press animation for the Dock—both hints, 9to5Mac says, at a touchscreen MacBook Pro expected as soon as this month.
