Apple and LG Co-Develop Smart Doorbell, Cameras, More
Bloomberg reports that Apple worked with LG on a slate of smart home gadgets expected to be announced next week, with LG handling manufacturing and sales.

Apple's smart home ambitions are taking a more concrete shape. According to a report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has collaborated with LG Electronics on a range of new smart home devices, based on recent regulatory filings by LG in South Korea.
The lineup reportedly includes a smart doorbell, a smart thermostat, a smart deadbolt lock, indoor and outdoor security cameras, and a floodlight camera. The devices will be sold under LG's branding, not Apple's, and LG will handle both manufacturing and product support.
This hardware is expected to be unveiled next week. The collection is likely built around a new hub device from Apple that has been in development for several years. Bloomberg also suggests a revamped HomePod Mini and a TV set-top box may be part of Apple's broader push into a more integrated smart home system.
While the Apple-branded hub and accessories could arrive soon, Bloomberg says the LG-branded gadgets won't be available for "at least a few more months."
The collaboration marks a shift for LG, known more for appliances and large electronics than smart home products. LG has previously partnered with Apple on Apple software in its smart TVs, served as a third-party monitor maker for the Mac ecosystem, and produces panels for Apple's Studio Display and Studio Display XDR.
