EU Siri AI Delay Could Last Five Months or More

Reported by MacRumors: Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says Apple's upgraded Siri AI will likely miss its EU launch on iPhone and iPad by half a year or longer.

MacRumors reports that Apple's enhanced Siri AI may stay off limits for iPhone and iPad users in the European Union for a long stretch. In a recent Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman called a delay of about five months the "absolute best-case scenario" and suggested the wait could stretch further while Apple negotiates with EU regulators over digital rules.

Gurman believes Apple is holding back the upgrade to put pressure on the European Commission, betting that frustrated customers will push for changes. He drew a parallel to the earlier delay of Apple Intelligence in the EU, which followed a similar pattern.

There is a silver lining: EU users can already access Siri AI on Mac. But for anyone hoping to use the voice assistant on an iPhone or iPad, the road ahead looks long.

What you can do today: nothing but wait. If you need a smarter assistant right now, the Mac version is your only option. Otherwise, expect to see Siri AI on your phone no earlier than mid-2025, and possibly later.
