MacBook With Touchscreen OLED Display Penciled In for Next Month?

MacRumors reports the latest macOS beta reveals interface changes that line up with a touchscreen MacBook expected as soon as next month.

Rumor. MacRumors reports that the third developer beta of macOS 27.2 introduces a long-press animation for Dock icons. Holding an app icon in the Dock makes it enlarge, a behavior that matches iOS and iPadOS where long presses signal touch input.

MacRumors says the animation is another small clue that Apple is building a MacBook with a touch-enabled OLED display. The rumored machine could land within a month, the outlet writes.

Beyond the screen, the expected MacBook is reported to pack an M5 Pro or M5 Max chip, a thinner-and-lighter design, a Dynamic Island and a built-in Apple modem for cellular connectivity.

Verdict

The animation is a software tell, not a launch guarantee. MacRumors's timeline matches earlier supply-chain talk, making the next few weeks worth watching if you are holding out for a touchscreen Mac.
