Fantastical on Googlebook; Android phones wait until 2027
The calendar app debuts on Googlebook today, 9to5Google reports, and phone and tablet versions follow in 2027.

Fantastical is finally on Android, but only on Googlebook, Google's new Android-based laptop. 9to5Google reports the calendar app is available there starting today.
According to 9to5Google, Flexibits CEO Michael Simmons says phone, tablet, and foldable versions aren't ready yet and won't arrive until sometime in 2027. That's a reversal: in 2024 Simmons said the app would never come to the Play Store.
Simmons told 9to5Google the change came after a Googlebook demo. He was impressed enough to start building for Android. Existing Fantastical users on iOS or Windows can use the Googlebook version at no extra charge. New users get the same cross-platform access. Individual plans start at $57 per year, family plans at $90 per year, and there's a free, less powerful tier.
If you hoped this meant Cardhop, Flexibits' contact app, was coming to Android too, hold off. Simmons told 9to5Google there is "no announcement" about Cardhop at this time.
Fantastical started on the Mac in 2011 and got a Windows version in late 2024. The Googlebook release is the first time it runs on Android. For most Android users, the takeaway is simple: if you don't own a Googlebook, keep waiting. The phone version you want doesn't exist yet.
