Exorcist: Martyrs Debuts at NYCC 2026, Release March 2027
Mike Flanagan presented the first trailer for his Exorcist film at New York Comic Con, calling it his scariest movie yet.

"The scariest movie I've ever made," Mike Flanagan said of his new Exorcist film at a Blumhouse panel during New York Comic Con, CNET reports.
The film, The Exorcist: Martyrs, takes a new approach to the classic horror franchise. Flanagan recently oversaw the Carrie remake on Prime Video and co-wrote the DC body-horror film Clayface, which arrives Oct. 23.
Scarlett Johansson plays an NYPD detective tracking a serial killer named Father Sunday, portrayed by John Leguizamo. The killer uses Catholic iconography in his murders. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, Sasha Calle and Jacobi Jupe also appear in the cast.
The trailer shown at the panel carries a procedural feel similar to Mindhunter and a brooding atmosphere reminiscent of The Exorcist III, according to CNET.
Flanagan's film will hit theaters on Friday, March 12, 2027.
