Apple AirPods Max 2 Drop to $480, $120 Off at Multiple Retailers

Wired reports the over-ear headphones are 22 percent off at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy, bringing the price closer to Sony and Bose competitors.

Apple AirPods Max 2 are $120 off their sticker price right now, according to Wired. The 22 percent discount is available at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. This is not tied to a Prime Day event; it's a deal at multiple stores.

Wired's reviewer, who has tested over 100 wireless earbuds and headphones, recommends these for Apple loyalists who switch between an iPhone and MacBook often. The discount brings the price closer to competing models from Sony and Bose.

The second-generation AirPods Max launched earlier this year with the same exterior design but several internal upgrades. The biggest change is improved active noise cancellation, which Wired says is 1.5 times stronger than the original model. The reviewer tested it in real-world conditions and confirmed it blocks a wider range of sounds.

Other improvements come from the H2 chip, replacing the original's H1. The AirPods Max 2 inherit features from the latest AirPods Pro, including live translation, adaptive audio, and conversation awareness. These are all software-driven upgrades tied to the new chip.
