Tom's Guide recommends three period dramas with family intrigue and literary roots.

If you've finished Netflix's 'East of Eden' and want more sweeping family sagas, Tom's Guide has three suggestions. The streaming guide rounded up shows that share the miniseries' blend of historical drama, family conflict and literary adaptation.

'House of Guinness'

From 'Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight, this Netflix series follows the Guinness dynasty in 19th-century Dublin and New York. After brewery magnate Sir Benjamin Guinness dies, his four adult children must work together to preserve the family legacy. Tom's Guide calls it a family drama with 'Succession'-level power struggles and lavish period design. A second season is in production. Stream it on Netflix.

'War and Peace' (2016)

The BBC's six-episode adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's novel covers 1,200 pages in a fast-paced epic set during the Napoleonic Wars. The cast includes Paul Dano, Lily James and James Norton. Tom's Guide notes that The Telegraph ranked it fifth among the greatest television adaptations of all time, calling it 'the greatest TV costume drama of the past decade.' Stream it free on the Roku Channel.

'The Buccaneers'

Based on Edith Wharton's unfinished novel, this Apple TV+ series follows young American women who enter London high society to find husbands and titles. It takes a lighter approach with contemporary music and campy humor, according to Tom's Guide. A third season is in the works. Stream it on Apple TV+.
