Googlebook trackpad: fix slow cursor speed now
9to5Google says the new laptop's trackpad is jarringly slow out of the box, but one setting fixes it.

If you picked up one of the new Googlebook laptops, 9to5Google says the first thing you should do is adjust the trackpad speed. The outlet reports that the haptic trackpad on every Googlebook in this initial wave ships with a frustratingly slow cursor by default.
9to5Google's team noticed the issue across multiple models while testing the machines this week. The cursor moves much slower than on Windows or macOS laptops, which makes the trackpad feel out of sync with your hand. It's not unusable, but it's jarring next to any other laptop you might buy today.
Here's the fix. Open Settings, then go to Device & accessories, then Touchpad, then Cursor speed. Slide it up to your preference. 9to5Google's reviewer maxed it out to get a feel closer to other machines. You'll need to complete the initial setup before the setting becomes available.
This is a quick change worth making before you do anything else. A trackpad that lags your input is the kind of thing that makes a new laptop feel worse than it is. Adjusting it takes ten seconds, and you'll forget it was ever an issue.
