Google Gemini may soon call Mom for you
An APK teardown suggests Google is expanding its AI calling feature to personal calls, with granular privacy controls.

Google may be bringing its AI-powered calling feature to your personal life. Android Authority reports finding a “Gemini Calling” introductory screen in a teardown of the latest Google app, with sample prompts like “Call Mom and tell her I will be 15 minutes late” and “Call John and ask if he is coming for dinner.”
The feature would extend Google’s existing “Call for Me” tool, which currently handles business calls, to friends and family. Based on the examples, Gemini would likely send short, text-like messages during a call rather than conducting a full conversation. That could be useful for people who prefer voice calls over texting or still use a landline.
Android Authority also spotted settings for “granular permissions” that would let users control which apps Gemini can access. That could include an option to opt out of receiving automated calls from the AI. However, as Android Authority notes, this feature may never see a public release — findings from an APK teardown are not guarantees.
If it does launch, Gemini Calling would bring Google’s AI one step closer to managing your personal communications. We’ll update this story if Google confirms the feature.
